Further Study of God's Word

"And He said, verily I say unto you, No prophet is acceptable in his own country. But of a truth I say unto you, There were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there came a great famine over all the land; and unto none of them was Elijah sent, but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman, the Syrian." Luke 4:23 - 27

By this relation of events in the lives of the prophets, Jesus met the questionings of His hearers. The servants whom God had chosen for a special work were not allowed to labor for a hardhearted and unbelieving people. But those who had hearts to feel and faith to believe were especially favored with evidences of His power through the prophets. In the days of Elijah, Israel had departed from God. They clung to their sins, and rejected the warnings of the Spirit through the Lord

To live by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ is to lean on and trust in Him no matter what our circumstances are or may be in the future! We cannot trust Him, today, and then blame Him for what happens, tomorrow! Our faith needs to be steady, but we can go to Him in prayer and ask Him to help us in times of need and for strength to continue on God's straight and narrow road, for satan will try his best to knock us for a loop and get us to stray and then walk his wicked road where evilness abounds!

I have so many things that God has done in my life and many to me were miracles, but I know it was the movement of His Holy Spirit within me showing me many and mighty things...to keep building my faith and helping in enduring and overcoming what I was and will be going through, for the devil only has a short time and he is on the rampage to take as many with him into the Lake of Fire that he can, for he is like a roaring lion, prowling about to see whom he can devour....that is why we need to put on the whole armor of God and stay protected against the principalities and powers of demons and their fiery darts in high places....for we fignt not against flesh and blood, for people are ruled by either God or the devil! Lucifer, the serpent, called the devil is a Liar and the father of them, so be careful in all things and do not listen to or do his evil ways!

I believe the biggest miracle of all is Jesus' willingness to die for us and then to forgive us when we are yet sinners by our crying out in repentance of all our sins! I've seen miracles performed on TV and heard and read of many, but to actually have seen a miracle happen right before me, no I haven't....but I still believe they have happened and still do happen today! All things are possible with God but ;tis His will in what He does or doesn't do! May God move upon this old sinful world and the lukewarm churches and bring us to redeeming faith and save those who will be saved and then, Come quickly, Lord Jesus! Amen! Ma Betty

What is the connection between sin and suffering?
I do not really think there is a connection. Yes, sin can cause suffering but not all suffering is caused by sin. In James it says:
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
Notice the part that says, IF they have sinned. That tells us that not all sickness is caused by sin. After Jesus healed the lame man at the pool of Bethesda he later found him at the temple and told him to stop sinning or something worse may happen to him. And like you mentioned above in John 9 we read:

1 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him,

Hi Bill, You're right on brother! We need to pray for and encourage one another to stay faithful to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Great answer to Martin's post, Bill_S and reveals that you are a true man of God! Welcome to our CMD Forum, although, I believe you have been here before and were welcomed but never hurts to welcome someone again! I am in South County of St. Louis, MO and am originally from Southeast MO.....near Bunker and Salem, MO! Where in Central MO do you live? Enjoyed reading your post, so hope you will stay with us! May God Bless you and yours! Amen! Ma Betty

P.S. There is a scripture that says, the sins of the father are unto the 3rd and 4th(?) generations; so the curse of illnesses or diseases do pass on to the next generations....Therefore, however the sins come, we do need to pray and lift them up to God in Jesus' name for healing and it is up to God's Holy Spirit to do the healing work in the hearts, souls and bodies of mankind through our prayers of believing faith! Amen!

Thanks Ma Betty. I live in Tipton, near Jefferson City. I do not belive the sins are passed on but we can talk about that later.....;o)
I have been born again and my generation only goes back to Jesus and we know he had no sin to pass on.......;o)

I have cousins living in Jeff City and Kansas City, MO! Haven't been to Tipton that I know of but have been to St. Joseph, MO years and years ago to visit with my former husband's relatives! Well, if you go by the generations after Jesus, Who had no sin, then how can we say that all are born sinners and fall short of God's glory? Diseases, depression and alcoholism do run in the same families and the curse must be broken in one of the generations down the line, so I am not with you in that portion of what you believe! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Don't know if you care to read much but Roger Sapp has a teaching on curses that you may want to read.

Thanks for your recommendation, but I don't read much any more because of my eyes and health! As far as further discussion about anything on Christianity, I'm gonna keep my mouth shut and not post my strong oppions as I get into too much trouble, so I am only praying for and giving encouragement posts from now on! If God spanks me, so be it, for I have been upbraided and spanked by Him before when not obeying something He told me to do! I love my brothers and sisters who are members on here but many are too sensitive and get their feelings hurt and leave, and I'm not going to be the one that causes anyone to leave anymore! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

I understand. Talking about certain issues gets people heated up pretty quickly, but you should not stop posting what you believe. Sometimes we can learn from others and also teach others by sharing our knowledge. Not everyone is going to agree on every subject all the time. I have several friends and we discuss scriptural matters quite often to see what we think about certain things. We do not always agree (but we dont get mad either) but then we will go dig into the scripture and see if we can get a better understanding on it. I think the key is that a person should be willing to learn when presented with something that don't line up with what they belive. They should spend time studying that subject (That is if they have not already) and seeking God for the truth. They may already have it or God may show them something else. So many people base their beliefs on what they have heard someone else say and not because they have spent countless hours studying the bible and seeking God to find the truth for theirself. As far as me you did not hurt my feelings, it would take a lot more than some words on this board to do that. Keep on posting..............:)

Thanks, Bill_s, for understanding and for your knowledgable post....I will be posting, but to harm someone's faith that they already have isn't good either, so I pray that God will give me His wisdom for understanding where they are coming from and the faith to know when, where and how to post what He gives me to help others and not hurt the faith they have already....We each are growing in knowledge and faith and some are far more along than others and; therefore, I need to be more careful in what I say in my posts within God's will and way that is! Don't want to turn anyone against my Heavenly Father by what I post whether Spiritually or otherwise...ya know sometimes the flesh arises and gets in the way...for satan is always at work wherever he can get a foot in...but when we speak the truth of God he has to flee and will, for they are like a sharp, two-edged sword cutting him to pieces! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty
