Fridays short hunt

7centsworth

Well-known member
A friend of mine has been wanting me to hunt this old house on his farm that his grandad lived on when he was younger. He just wanted to know what was there. I had about two hours to hunt before I had to pick up my daughter. It was trashy and was starting to fall down. I searched beside of the house as close as I could trying not to get into all the briars. Didn't find much except trash until I got to the back. I got a sweet quarter tone and dug down. Then I seen a green coin shape in the dirt. I cleaned it off a little and saw it was a button. Then I noticed it was a world war button. I ask my friend if he new anybody in the war and he said yes his grandad died in it. I handed him the button and said its yours take it home and clean it good. He was speechless and thanked me several times. About ten minutes later I found a 1949 dog tax. I gave it to him also. I also found a nipple off of a muzzleloader.

The Great Seal button began being used in 1902 I believe. Used in WWI later in WWII and is still the button design today. I think yours is likely a WWI or WWII. Nice job giving it to him. I like the dog tag also. Well done.

Good to see you stop by.

Nice finds Travis and it sounds like you made your friends day. I am sure the Lord is smiling down upon you. God Bless and have a peaceful evening my friend!

Congrats Travis on getting to detect and on the nice old finds! What a blessing you gave your friend by giving him the finds in memory of his grandfather! You will be blessed with more places to go :detecting: by blessing your friend and finding more older finds to keep for yourself! :spin:  Ma
