From not impressed to impressive...

I got permission today to hunt a victorian in Kingston, GA. The home was built in the 1840s and survived Sherman and the yankee hoard.

I hunted for about three hours with the ET, I was thinking hat if I don't find something here I may as well quit... I finally found a small buckle, not much though. For the last 30 minutes I got out my T2 and began to both understand why I was not having much luck and to be impressed with the ET.

If oyu have ever used a T2 or F75 you know that they do not null, they give a quick note on everything in the ground if the disc is low enough. I had the T2 on a disc of 10, that is low... It sounded like a machine gun on every swing of the coil. I finally had to guess at a place maybe clean enough to ground balance. The soil in the yard was soft and black, full of earthworms. The natural ground here is hard red clay so this had been brought in a way long time ago. So, with all the iron and hot rocks and the soft soil I was really impressed that the ET had been running so smoothly. I mostly ran it in auto, I had it set to +3 and that set it at 17/18 most of the time. I uused the coins default setting and the quickmask at 25 iron and open on the conductive.

I did find a small harness ring with the T2 and some other junk.

I will go back and take a photo and hunt some more. I was getting some signals with the ET but not in the 12 ferrous, some around 9 and some 15 to 19 ferrous. After getting a better idea of the ground I think maybe I need to forget about TID and dig by tone at this place even if it's not close. I did not hear many deep signals here. I think they were probably well masked and deep, however deep that topsoil is... at the bottom of that topsoil should be some really good finds.

So, in a nutshell, I didn't find much but the machine was super stable considering the conditions.

Maybe I will try hitting it with the F75 or T2 and marking the spots with golf tees, then go back and check them with both the SE and the ET and see what they say.

..... tired... back hurts...

I am making a list of digital numbers that I will post. One thing I have noticed is that an eagle cuff button and a square tab both read 12-15... that is going to take some work to get around. Any ideas on how to tell the two apart?

Send us some pics of the place and I think it would be a great idea for you to mark a spot off and then see how other MD react to said target. Too bad you didn't have video cam. You could film the whole thing but obviously the majority of your time should be in swinging.

Kingston is full of history. The first Confederate hospital was there. It operated from 1861 to 1864. The first Decoration Day, (Confederate Memorial Day), was there during the federal occupation. The great locomotive chace went through Kingston.
I'm sure this place has been well hunted but still....

I'll take and post a pic
