I know most of you find really cool old stuff but this was our first hunt. We found 63 coins and only two were nickels.i was beginning to think I was mistaking them for aluminum. The oldest was 77 quarter. Good practice identifying and digging. We also cleaned up a lot of trash. No pictures of clad. The 75s are awesome and we ran on factory settings.

Awesome !!

 Factory settings are a great way to start off. If I remember correctly, the tones in factory pre-set are 2. For coin hunting I like 3H and 4H tones. These two tone selections move the nickel range into the high tone range. I believe once you move to 3H tones your nickel recoveries will nicely improve. Oh, certain tabs and small aluminum pieces read and sound a lot like nickels, but most nickels will be a bit less bouncy tid wise then the trash pieces and seem to have a little denser thunk to them. The deeper nickels are, though, the more bouncy they become. Have fun and good luck. HH jim tn
