Full Tones?

I do in heavy iron and nail beds. It netted me 3 silver dimes, one "fishscale" 5 cent piece, a large cent and a 1876 Japanese 1 SEN Copper coin last Tuesday. (Still need to post pics)

I used it today for the first time. I found some coins and a gold wedding band in my backyard (that has been hunted to death). The wedding ring was 14 inches deep!:surprised:

Did either of you try the same detection settings with other tone settings to ascertain that the finds would not have been reported in 3, 4 or 5 tones?

Tones settings do not impact detections; they only impact how they are reported. So IMO tones are a matter of preference in reporting and not a matter of detection or not. If particular tones settings helps one more readily recognize detection then that is the benefit of those setting, not any increase in detection itself.

I use Full tones almost all the time for coins. Most of the time I stay in 12khz which has a so-so spread for US coins, but 4 khz spaces them out better although you lose a little depth on low conductors with all other settings being equal.

IMHO Full tones gives more signal info without glancing at the screen, and those iffy targets are better identified with this additional audio information. Ever since v3.2 was released I switched and haven't looked back. I can't even imagine trying to set breakpoints and audio frequencies for different targets - I know everyone is different but at least to me, Full tones have really made the Deus a pleasure to use! Can't wait to see what XP comes out with next...

I only have a few months of Deus experience but I'm am leaning towards Full Tones more and more. I did experiment over a couple of targets out in the field yesterday and everything else being equal, the Full Tones had the best response (to my ears anyway). I probably would have dug it anyway with the various multi tone settings, but it seemed there was less debate whether to dig or not to dig with the Full Tone sound.

I love full tones!...I dont have a Deus, so take this post as a bit of advice from an outsider...I run full tones for the reasons CZ mentioned...a guy can hunt fast and hard with his ears alone, heads up and not looking at the screen...I would have a very hard time hunting with a single tone or even a 4-5 tone rig...especially at night..I've been looking at the Deus for several years, its strength is its speed/recovery/separation...to really be fast a guy needs to get into full tones to maximize it..

Full tones on the Deus are very similar to those on the 75 which i assume are similar to the 70. I hunt with full tones 90% of the time if for no other reason than to learn the language.
The new tones on the 75 gives it a bit more versatility but the Deus tones are definitely more informative as to the nature and depth of the target. There are some specific times the tone breaks and adjustability of tones on the Deus are a real advantage and if XP could couple them with a downsized elliptical coil it would be a real killer. Full tones also makes distinguishing falsing tones from good ones easier.

Been hunting a lot in Full Tones. The only thing is the zips sounds seem to attract coyotes as I have seen a few in the Southern New Mexico deserts checking me out lately.,,,,which is unusual.

Cool....
A twofer
A predator hunt and a treasure hunt in one....

I just started using full tones 2 days ago. I hunted a small area in my yard where an old wash line was hung. I found 10 zinklins hunting this area using Gary ' hot program. I went back over this area using full tones. For some reason and I don't know why, I pulled 5 dimes and two more zinklins from that area. Maybe I missed them somehow the first time but it seems kind of odd that I missed that many dimes from that area and in close proximity to the earlier plugs. So far I'm liking full tones.

I have begun using full tones also, but I don't find that it changes detection. It just changes how it is reported, which for some in some cases may be a benefit. Anything that helps clue someone in that a detection of a desirable target has been made is great.

I have a two plus year old coin garden with 15 targets including silver coins and a gold ring; some coins have 1 or 2 nails in the hole. One dime with 2 nails is hard to get even with Deus fast tuned, some days I can't get it.

In no instance in the field or in the test garden have I had a target that full tones reported that was not also reported in 4 or 5 tones all other things being equal. I have yet to see that shown on or demonstrated in any video; YMMV.

Full Tones don't seem to get me any deeper or better performance than any other tone settings but I am enjoying the Full Tones as I approach a target. Something different and I believe I am fast getting to the point of knowing what may be under the coil out here in the New Mexico desert. The places I am hunting, targets are few and far between and not much if any modern trash .[/size]
