FULL TONES ?

Why can't I hear iron when in "FULL TONES". Can hear iron in 2,3,4, and 5 tones but when I switch to full tones no sound at all. Thanks, BURLYBOB

Do you have your Disc. set too high? Iron audio adjustment goes out the window in full tones ( wether at 0 or 5 it has no affect in full tones) it's as loud as every other tone. Did you swing a piece of iron across the coil to see if you can get a tone from it?

shoover, Using program 3, DEUS FAST so disc is at 6.8. No changes to stock program besides changing to full tones. Yes I was using a square nail laying on the surface of the field I was hunting. All other tones 2-5 picked it up ?

OK after reading the post from shoover I lowered disc to "0" and could here the IRON. by disc "3 " it was gone. So when in full tones do most of you use "0" disc ? THANKS shoover for the fast reply. BURLYBOB

Here's how it works. When your in 2,3,4,5, tones and have your discrimination set for let's say 6 The iron volume adjusts the "volume level"of the tone you will hear for all things from your discrimination setting of 6 back to zero. If you set the iron volume at 0 then you would get no sound at all for iron that falls in the 0-6 range.

When you use full tones the Iron Volume feature isn't used and if you were set at zero discrimination you will get a tone for all things under the coil. If you were to use discrimination at 6 then you would only get a sound from your unit for things that rang up above your discrimination setting of 6. This is why you got no sound from your unit over the nail when in full tones.
Good luck.

Try dropping your disc. down to 2 and see what happens. I use full tones and the only thing I don't like is the iron tone seems to be a little higher than 200 kHz. I'm not sure why your not getting a signal on iron using full tones at 6.8 and we do using any other tone setting. I just tried it on mine at 6.8 I got no response on a square nail. I had to drop the Disc. Down to 3.5 to here the iron coming through. I have mine set at 0 But that might be too low in your ground. If I think I starting to pick up small mineralized stones sounding like nails I bump it up to 1 maybe 2 to quiet it down.

Oops took to long typing. Thanks for the explanation CT I keep forgetting about that with the tones and disc. Since I always used 3 or 4. Tones before I started using full tones
