Future F5 Mods

The F5 is a great detector I really like it but to make it the ultimate coin detector could Fisher make these additions.
Adjustable notch like golden Umax.
Ability for operator to set the start segmate number and the end segment number of there choice, that would help with international settings.
I don't know is that asking to much or just not possible!

Sandgroper! Your from Australia yeah? So Its the 21st there right now and the world didn't end? Good! I can go detecting tomorrow!
The MAN at Fisher checks out and reads this forum, so you may get a detailed answer from him, or he may think about your suggestion.
Regardless, theres some knowlegeable blokes that swing the F5 here as well, they might have some tips for you. I hope you find loads of treasure, and keep posting for us poor soon to be snowed in Yanks!

ps, I just happen to be drinking a Fosters at this very moment, cheers!:beers:

It would be awesome if we could program in exactly what numbers we want to accept or reject. There are a few detectors that have that capability already. To me the nickel notch on the F5 is too wide even for american coins. It will pickup a lot of trash targets.

Ha!

I too would like a small change in the F5. I want to be able to move the nickel tone around in the 4 tone audio mode.. keep the 10 digits notch width, just let me chose where it starts. 25 is too high for small gold rings and 35 is too low for large gold rings. But if I could adjust the tone range downward in small gold locations and adjust it upward in large gold locations, I'd be a happy detectorist. Well...that change and a 3"x18" coil for it would make me a very happy detectorist.

Funny how we differ; coin hunters and jewelry hunters. Us jewelry hunters are forced to try to bend coin machines to hunt what we're after and it is not very often we find detectors with features that work for us. When we do, they often conflict with with what a coin hunter would want.

The F5 "is what it is". Nowadays we're working on "other stuff".

I don't mean to discourage suggestions for revision of existing products, we learn from those suggestions, just not necessarily in the form the customer was imagining.

Mike Hillis - That's what I was trying to describe Mike, as a good thing to have.
Ability to move notch start and end points and to move 4 tones or have more tones for each notch.
Thanks for your help.
Because of the adjustability and inbuilt features of the F5, I can produce
a different tone on many pull tabs as compared to my coin tone. It can make
for easy detecting in pull tab bad areas.

Dave J. - Thanks I understand your statement. I know building ajustability into detectors
is ok for some and for others just confusion, but for experienced users and
international appeal, it would be a good feature and benefit.
I look forward to your replacement of this very good detector.

Merry Christmas to all
Best Regards Sandgroper
