G2 or T2?

I am thinking very seriously getting one of the two machines. I hunt a wide range of area from Relic hunting to the beach and parks etc I want to know from folks who have used both why one or the other would be best. Thanks in advance.Sonny

Sonny, This is my take on both, I'm sure others will chime in also. The T-2 is the hot rod of the Tek line. It can be overwhelming sometimes as far as tones, EMI and depending on how high you set the sensitivity. In all metal it has TID and depth that is unrivaled. It is NOT a turn on and go machine.

The G-2 on the other hand is a turn on and go machine. At 19 kHz it is more of a gold and relic machine, hot on brass & lead. it is not uncommon to dig buttons at 10" with it. Very quiet at full gain. It wil beat the T-2 in iron trash, hands down. I have dug targets in holes with 3 or more nails with them. People have reported having some luck with the high conductors, silver, copper etc. It only has 2 tone ID which most relic hunters desire, where as the T-2 has multi tones.

Both machines are the best that Teknetics has to offer along with the Omega, which I have yet to field test, hope to very soon..........MO

The T2 is super deep but you have to learn to use it a bit. Not bad but when you do learn how its amazing. The new T2 SE has a whole new circuit and is easier to use. The boost mode is the awesome when you in deep grass and cant get the coil to the ground. It can be several inches above the ground and still hit targets 7 or deeper in the ground with no problems! Great around a homestead!

Let me know if you have any questions or need a really good price on one.

Having Had both of FT LTD's, F-75 and T-2, I'll say that I WILL out hunt them with the G2 or GBSE........:poke:

Morelic55....I have the LTD and love it, could you expound on what you have gained by going to the G2. My main hunting is for coins, I don't hunt relics here in central PA....so my question is more related to how the G2 hits silver compared to the LTD. Always looking for the next addition to the arsenal you know!!

Well Dave, For one, did not like the fact that in order to use the new "Boost" process mode, I had to turn down the sens to 40 or 50. I mean, come on, why have it? I for one can't see what 4 kHz difference makes for coin hunters, The T2 runs at 14 kHz and the G2 at 19 kHz. The main difference is the see thru iron that the G2 has. If not thru, touching or very close to non ferrous targets is where the G2 shines. If it is masked by iron the G2 will get it.......MO

morelic55 i wonder if your LTD was defective or it was bad EMI in your area.
With my LTD and others i have read thy run smother in boost mode than DE mode
which is odd , as in boost you would expect more interference.
I run boost most of the time with Senc of 80 or more and Disc of 6 or less when i can.

DKinPA have the GBSE cousin to the G2 in my mild dirt the GB locks hard on the ID and
can run max senc most of the time. Excellent in iron. and hot on gold.

Its hard to say what advantage it would be for you.

My take is that the G2 will rule in iron. I don't think anybody is saying if you can only have one detector get the G2. I am using an LTD for deep hunting in open ground. My G2 thoughts are for iron infested areas where the LTD has trouble picking apart the iron and the coins, relics, etc. I do think the G2 would be a good coin shooter. It is not going to go head to head with the LTDs and T2s in depth. This is what I have gathered by reading various posts.
My G2 has been outside only once during the last two frozen months in Indiana. I plan on using the LTD in clear areas and the G2 in iron infested areas. I love my LTD and its boost process. I do a lot of hunting at 65 and 70 sensitivity and feel pretty good about the depth I am getting. Glad people are doing some talking about G2s though. I am getting a little stir crazy since I can't get out and hunt with mine.

Thanks for everyone's input . More techy is not a problem for me at all. I was looking for something light weight and powerful. After talking with Bart of Big Boys hobbies today and the comments listed here I am leaning towards the G2 . I like the fact that there are two micro processors in the G2. I like the fact its able to pick out targets next to iron. I mean whats depth if the target is going to be masked by iron right ? I do appreciate everyone's input! That's the beauty of the forum. Thanks to all who commented. Sonny

I added some good one for you. Remember, the Fisher gold bug pro is the same as the teknetics G2. So watch those too!

There is info that the G2 and the Gold Bug Pro and SE are just as good as each other due to the fact that they are the same unit etc.
