G2 Question

at turn-on, most of the time. They might work much better, however, with a 'proper' Ground Balance setting. I've found Teknetics models with manual GB or automated Fast Grab / Ground Grab have worked okay in most sites where I was faced with a lot of trash and not easy spot to find to make a GB setting. At least enough to get by. When I do adjust the GB it might not reflect any major difference in performance unless the ground conditions are rather extreme, either way. Too much iron mineralization or maybe a salt water environment that's wet are best addressed with a correct GB for the area.

That is to quickly adjust the ground balance. If you use the Fast Grab or Ground Grab automated function, it only takes 2 to 5 quick coil bobs from 6"-8" down to close to the ground. Total? Maybe 3 to 5 seconds! Manual GB, depending upon the ground environment and amount of adjustment needed, plus your skill, ought to only take up to 15 seconds or so.

For those who get to a site where they can't find clean ground to effectively set the Ground balance, the models are workable. Be on the alert, however, to either find a clean patch of metal-free ground to set the GB, or clean an area out so you can set it for the best performance.
