Gamma 6000 Depth

I picked up a like new Gamma and wondering how it compares to the Omega for depth and target ID? Also does it need a real slow sweep for depth or can you cruise and still get good depth in non trashy areas. Also have a CZ6a and I know I have to hunt slow with it. But sure do like it. Hope the Gamma will be a good detector also. Thanks Joe

Hey Joe the Gamma is an excellent detector,I own bot the the Omega and the Gamma. They have many of the same features with the Omega giving you just a little more info in the screen. As far as depth i would say they;re about equal and would probably come down to the operator as far as which one did better on a perticular day lol.I have enjoyed both of them. They both have ground grab feature and multi tones and in my opinion they both ID very well. The Delta,The Gamma, and the Omega I would suggest to anyone they are excellent quality for the money spent.A best buy for sure plus you can swap coils between the two......Markmac

Yeah I have a Gamma too and love it. I do sweep slower in heavy trash but otherwise pretty fast is fine.

As a former BH Platinum user I decided to up grade to the tek gamma 6000.

I just received a new Gamma 6000. When I test bench, the machine is completely quiet and when I pass different coins over the coil, I get a nice solid reading.

When I went out for my first hunt I turned on the unit and it went bonkers. I try ground balancing multiple times on different spots with no luck. Sometimes. If I pick the coil 3 ft off the ground it will stop, but if its tipped a certain direction acts like water is in it or something. The display flies all over the place. Even the tones thru my headphones sound chopped.I'm starting to wonder if its defective.

Is there a way to return unit to factory settings?

Thanking any gamma users who may have the same problem,

Larry...

Sounds like you have got a problem. I would send it in to the factory for a check up. CG
