Gamma 6000 questions

I can get a steal on a Gamma 6000. What kind of depth do you all get with the stock coil. I mostly detect fields where houses once stood and i live in indiana with decent soil. Not much minerials. How do these detectors do in heavy iron. There will be many nails where i hunt and will it present any problems

Maximum 26/27 centimeters on coins like 50 eurocents or 2 euro, in some video I explained some trouble with nails. good targets and stock coil, but I solved any problem changing the coil with a 12x10 SEF and now the Gamma is my favourite metal detector with over 30 cm of depth in disc. mode and great discrimination!

Get the 5" coil for it in heavy iron. Its DEADLY!

Gotta agree with Bart....if your up to your knees in nails....you need the 5" coil. 8"-10"-11" coils don't really cut it in heavy nails. You'll miss alot of good stuff with the larger coils. I use the 5" on the Omega in Idaho which has heavy mineralization.....can snag a dime at 6"..........pretty impressive for a 5" coil. Bagged a 1915s EF Barber dime 1" from a 2" nail about 4" deep with that little coil. Nuff said.

Bart, you got that right! Not just in iron, but it's also deadly in super trashy areas as well. I use one on my Gold Bug with great success, so I ordered an extra one for my Omega. I just ordered a Gamma that comes with a 8 inch stock coil AND a 5 inch coil. So I have 3 !!!!! and can't use a single one of them, since I broke my swinging arm in 4 places last week. I've been wanting to do a side by side comparison, between the Omega and Gamma, but it will have to wait. Typing has become a chore.:(

I have gone crazy trying to choose a detector. I believe I am gonna get a Gamma also. Was more than I wanted to spend so a little saving is in order. The ground here in NY is like a rock anyways.
