Cold and snowing today, but if you venture out past the frozen part of the lake shore, it's only 2 feet deep. So all you need is a beach scoop, and a set of neoprene waders and your in business. I have hit the lake hard this winter, and have found some of my best finds to date. Although this is not in that category, it is interesting, and what I found today. It reads "Grand Army of the Republic" and 1861 Veteran 1866 . Happy hunting!

I was using the Whites DFX with the standard 8" coil, I only go in up to about three feet deep. If I had to use a pulse machine there would be metal everywhere.

Is it a dime-sized collar disk? Does it have a spot on the back where the nut would hold it on?

Nice button, I looked at the history of GAR the other day... interesting!

Found this sash buckle a few years ago but never did find any info on it. No writing, just the image. thanks

Excellent find - congrats ! :clapping:
