Garmin Venture CX Please help

I bought a Garmin Venture CX last week and I am trying to download maps to it. I bought it new and it didn't come with any Cd's just the Unit and a manual. My problem is it doesn't find where I have it hooked to the USB port. Do I need software or another cable I am using my wife's cell phone data cable is this the problem. Any help is greatly needed.

Well, to load maps you need maps that are made for Garmin receivers and software that loads these maps.
Check Garmin website if there is a driver for your receiver - it may need to be loaded on your computer before the computer can recognize the receiver. To tell the truth, all my receivers have the old fashioned serial interface. Well, iQue has USB but it's a Palm type so, it's a different animal.
