hi
I have recently bought a garrett gti 2500.
I want to know that what the threshold do ? actually from a scientific view, what it means ? when we decrease it what happen and when increase it what happen ?
what is sensivity means ? is it mean that for more depth , must increase the sensetivity ?
I have a sound in background and cannot disappear it . how can I do it ?
thank you in advance

Ehsan, my friend

I want to know that what the threshold do ? actually from a scientific view, what it means ? when we decrease it what happen and when increase it what happen ?
The threshold is the very lowest audio point at which the very weakest signals will be heard. It is most useful in ALL METAL mode. You adjust it until you can BARELY hear it, then the weakest signals (meaning deep - you hope!) will overide it and come through for you to hear.

What is sensivity means ? is it mean that for more depth , must increase the sensetivity ?
Yes. But too much sensitivity will give you false signals, so you have to start it low and work up.

I have a sound in background and cannot disappear it . how can I do it ?
That is the threshold. To reduce it, press Menu/Scroll several times (5 or 6) until you see "thresh" on the display. Then pres "-" until it decreases to a very faint sound.

Good Luck!

Threshold establishes the audio for all metal and pinpoint. It does nothing else. run it at a faint hum or silent.

Sensitivitymakes your coil more sensitive to the targets you hope to find but also sensitive to all the other things you don't want to find. It has nothing to do with depth. On the 2500 run your sensitivity at 6 or 6.5 for about 100 hours until you are familiar with your machine and how sensitivity reacts to different things inthe ground.

The sound you hear is the threshold. Go into the menu and find threshold and lower it.

Boy that stuff they have posted is rather vague, especially for a newbie. Somebody needs to rewrite that mess.

...bear in mind that Esahn is a detectorist from a rather far flung place, which due to political concerns, might best be left un-named.
He and I have had a bit of email correspondence to date. He is seeking old-world treasures which we might call dynastic, and he is doing so "under the barbed-wire fence," as it were.

I've been trying to explain the things he's seeing in non-technical terms that a non-English speaker, with little experience, might be able to grasp. Thanks for all the help and let's hope his efforts are well rewarded, considering the risks...
