Garrett apex to equinox600

With all due respect, the question is an attempt to compare a Volkswagen Beetle to a Porche Carrera. One is made on an assembly line and one is almost hand made. One costs a few thousand dollars and one costs over $200,000+. Each was designed and produced for different target audiences. Most people would like a Carrera but their budgets are Beetle budgets. You can definitely compare the two machines but if we are honest with each other there can only be one winner.

I just bought my wife the Equinox 600 for the beach as she wanted a waterproof detector that could be used on the beach handling wet sand and salt. After doing much research and reading many reviews I went with the Equinox. I am going to charge it this morning and we are taking it out this weekend for a trial run. The Equinox is not only supposed to be good on the beach, but a great all around metal detector. I have a Minelab Safari and really like it, it's just not waterproof. I am not yet familiar with the Equinox, but I'm looking forward to learning it. As said, I believe the Equinox overall is a Big Bang for the buck. Best of luck to you in your decision.

From what I have seen on YouTube videos and read on forums the Equinox 600 and Vanquish 540 beats the pants off the Apex

A great many people are very satisfied with the equinox. It has the advantage of being around much longer than the Apex so there is not as much feedback on the Garrett. The only way to really compare them for your use would be to try them both out but I am not sure anyone would allow you to test their equinox in salt water. I would be very surprised that if any one who owns the more expensive detector (Porche) would think that an unknown new model (Beetle doesn't qualify) with a much lower price could possibly be as good as what they have. I think the best advice would be from someone who has owned and used both and has no ulterior motive. I own neither so I can't give a recommendation on which to buy.
