I decided to start out late today to let the traffic die down some before heading out. I went back to the site where a found 7 silver coins and a couple of nice rings yesterday. I got to the site around 9:00 o'clock and set up in the Pro Zero mode with full sensitivity and started swinging away after I ground balanced the detector with the 5 x 8 inch coil. I was finding wheat pennies everywhere but no silver (1957, 1946, 1951, 1945, 1946, 1955, 1948, 1953, 1942, 1950, 1963, 1958, 1949, 1951, 1941, 1944). I knew that there was more silver to be had with me finding that many wheat pennies, so I had high hopes and kept swinging away. Finally, I got a high tone with some bouncy numbers and dug down and popped a 1956 Washington Quarter. That took some pressure off from being skunked. Next I found a 1936 Mercury Dime. I'm on a roll.
The next good target that I got gave off a tight clean and very loud audio response with a 87 on the ID number. I was hoping for a large silver coin, but it turned out to be a glorious Sterling Silver Ring instead. I capped off the day with a 1946 Washington Quarter. Oh yeah, I found a 1955 Italian coin with a 5 on it. I have it soaking. Noon rolled around and I stopped to eat a sandwich. After eating, I decided to call it a day and save some silver for that location for another day.
