Garrett ATpro Field Guide for Beginners

I bought one of the first available and am very happy with it. It did take some what of a learning curve to feel comfortable swinging it. The water proof feature is great. I bought the Blue waterproof (Under Water) ear phones for it as the land version furnished with the detector were not comfortable to wear and also had a strong tug on them when I set the machine down to dig. They had a lot of recoil tension on them. It is a very deep seeking machine. I got a small copper snap half from about 8 inches deep. It is light weight too. OOPS! Sounds like a sales pitch - sorry! I just am a satisfied Garrett AT Pro owner....

Hey John,
It's good to hear you're satisfied with your 'New' Garrett ATpro. From what I've read, the weight of the unit is reasonable and not nose heavy, as is the case with the Ace 250. The added bonus of being waterproof is definitely a plus, as it takes the worry out of being in or near the water. I'm also glad Garrett decided to paint it black rather than the bright yellow of the Ace 250/350. And I'm delighted they've given the ATpro a DD coil, which is far better for target separation. Admittedly, I'd buy one if I had the extra money but I recently purchased a 'New' Minelab X-terra 505 and the piggy bank is on empty. None the less, I think this new X-terra is going to be a very good detector, for the kind of hunting I'm doing presently.
