I just got this unit and I am having a little trouble with the volume / depth control when I fire up the unit it either crackles or is dead silent if I turn it off and on a few times I get a faint signal in the phone's but no volume even turned up to max. Any one had this problem? And what steps should I take to fix it? Thanks for any help in advance. Ohiodirtfisher.
 
You have an excellent detector......but, it is old and has some issues. Try emailing this guy "Leslie" as he still uses his and swears by it.

...First I would contact Garrett to see if they still repair this unit. If not...contact Keith Wills at www.brokendetector.com He repairs a lot of vintage detectors!
