Garrett GTA 500

Last November I was I went into a thrift store and picked up a GTA 500 with a set of headphones. It was priced $13 so I thought it was worth a gamble. I had to get some new battery holders but it seems to work. Does anyone have any knowledge of them or any hints that might help me?

I used a GTA 500 for about 3-4 years and found thousands of coins with it it and aso a lot of rings. Just get out there and practice practice practice!

I played around with it this past weekend just to try it out. I found some change at my parent's house and then some cartridge cases and other assorted items in some woods. Being able to find the cartridge cases boosted my confidence but I still want to play around with it more to get used to it. I previously borrowed a friends Tesoro and liked the signals it gave when it located something. It doesn't seem like the my Garrett is giving much of a signal. When I am just checking it on my E-tool to make sure that I am getting a signal it doesn't seem like it gives much of a signal when I think it should be beeping like crazy.
 
if you don't like the 500 i will buy it of you for a 100$
 
Thanks for the offer but I had someone help me with it today and after playing with it I have a lot more confidence. Took it out in the backyard and the first thing I found was a dog rabies vaccination tag from 1982. I also found some other junk but I am really looking forward to getting out and seeing what else I can find.
 
HI anyone know how to set ground balance on this detector. Theres 2 internal trimmers that you can access outside the display housing. Just don't know which is which.
