Another hunt in the woods today......one of my favorite places to hunt. :)

Here's the kind of day I had for about 2 hours worth of hunting after work. The sun was setting, and a snow storm was just brewing up.......so I headed home. :)

My very first good signal was a couple of minutes into the hunt. I was scanning the main trail, when "BANG".... a good clean bell-tone signal. I dug it up, and low and behold, a well worn "Great War Veterans Association/Good For 10 Cents In Trade" token popped out of the ground. My son and I had dug about 38 of these several years ago, about a mile from this location. I have often wondered if perhaps there may be some more lying around, and I guess there are. I had them appraised several years ago. There were only 2 known to exist....until I dug up a whole batch. At that time they were appraised at about $90.00 a piece.

Here is a better explanation of the token found today, a copy of an article submitted to Western & Eastern Treasures.

My second decent sounding target on the main trail was this "BOY SCOUT" jack knife. I like finding boy Scout objects, as I too was a member at one time and have some great memories of the group.

Things got quiet for a while, except for the odd piece of tinfoil, some brass suspender pieces and a couple of 22 shells. I finally got another decent signal in some bushes, and I dug this old style lighter. It is I believe my third lighter in this design that I had recovered.

It was starting to get pretty dark in the woods, so I opted to call it a day and head home.......

Top finds there John. And a rare find!
My wife is currently the local Joey Scout Leader (6 to 8yr olds). My youngest is in Scouts at the moment.
Mick Evans.

Very cool, John. What went on in the past at that spot?

Probably a lot of drunkeness and debauchery. After all, it was called the wild west. Then the Boy Scouts came into the picture to tame things a little.:)
