Garrett made two different series with these models. The 1st series used Garrett's original 5.5 KHZ coils. The 2nd series used the Crossfire Coils which I believe operate at around 7.5 KHZ..................Although the appearance looks the same, the detector models with the Crossfire Coils have better depth than the original coils!..........The Master Hunter 5 is the same as the 7X, only missing the coin bell tone! The 7X and the 10X are the same but the 10X has Kellyco stickers and comes with the 10 inch Hot Head Coil. Still very competitive with the newest detectors especially in Cache and Coin Shooting! Weight may be a problem for some but I use the chest/hip-mount system so weight is not a factor for me. It uses 6 nine-volt batteries which may be a lot for todays detectors but battery drainage does not seem to be extreme!........Never cared for the the Digital Meters!.... I always preferred the older GARRETT's with the analog meter and the long metal box! It just seems to be more mature and stable to me! But of course that is my personal opinion delevoped over 30 plus years of using Master Hunters, Deepseekers, etc.!..........................................MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.........................Joe
