i own a treasure ace 300 just got it used,,thinking of the master hunter cxII let me know if its a decent machine,,,,thanks

Joe, I had the Master HunterCX model several years ago. It worked OK. Depth was satisfactory. It was very uncomfortable to use, if relic hunting in the woods. Put a lot of strain on my wrist. But, for doing flat land hunt, it was balanced OK. I would much rather you go with a newer model. They are lighter, have good depth and good discrimination. Check out the GTI series or the new GTP 1350. But....if the master hunter cxII is at a great price, get it. It gives you more options then the Ace 300. Hope this helps.

thanks for the info,,i was also considering the 550.....

I have owned 2 CX IIs and they are a very good machine and will outperform the Ace 300 by far. The Master Hunter CX someone else mentioned had the same case but not the same electronics. The CX II had better stability and better depth along with better ground tracking in the All Metal mode than the plain CX model. The closest thing to the CX II is the CX Plus which now has the Power Master circuitry even though it is not advertised as such. It originally did not have Power Master but does now and goes deeper. If you like the idea of the CX II consider the CX III (3) with Power Master. It will outperform all the others mentioned. A Very Deep machine. I had the predecessor the original CX III and it did well for coins but the Power Master went much deeper and had improved ground tracking over the original CX III, I hope this will help you out. Been at this nearly 30 years and a technician also. The last iof the CX IIIs were made in 2002 I believe. Definately worth having and would be choice of the Garretts for a vlf type machine with all the coils for it. Weight to me isn't a problem unless something is really that heavy. I want performance. Just belt mount it if need be. The CXs aren't all that heavy and they work very well. The 10x14 DD coil will work on them too! <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> Best to you...................Henry,......OH, BTW, beware of the original Grand Master Hunter and the next version the GMH 2. These have the same case as the CX series all had. The GMH 2 is definately better by far. The original GMH drifted off tune frequently and did not track well the ground conditions and hot ground drove them nuts. Lots of false readings. The orignal one did not perform well. The second version did make much needed improvements but the ones I suggested will work much better. Just a last minute thought before I post this.
