Garrett pro pointer

After being thoroughly disappointed with my first experience using a pinpointer, (free v-max from kellyco) I was really hesitant about buying a new one. After reading about the pros and cons of several, I decided on the Garrett. After a 12 hour MD'n expedition yesterday, I am very impressed with the pro pointer. Recovery time was excellent, and I don't think I ever had much dirt on the recovery tarp, as I was able to "pinpoint" my excavation. Even when dirt was on the tarp, I didn't have to scan with the safari, or fumble through dirt with my hands, just wanded the dirt, and found my target. Before I back filled, I ran the safari over the tarp and hole, just to double check that everything was out. I am pretty happy with the Garrett, but I cannot say it is the best pinpointer ever, because I can only compare it to the V-max piece-o-crap.

I had one Lud but sold it to get the Sun Ray X-1 and boy I couldnt be happier!!!! The Garretts are nice but the X-1 let you retrieve your targets using your detectors disc. Therfore what you hear is what your after!!!

I have to honestly say I've already had trouble with 2 of them so far within a yrs time... The first one, the circut fried as soon as it was turned on while out hunting... The second one, lost all sensetivity... would only respond to a target if the tip was actually touching the coin ( or whatever the object was )... Both replaced under warrenty..... but really not sure how good they are built, or how long you could expect them to last !!!

I have been using the Garrett propointer for 2 years now. It is a TERRIFIC piece of equipment. Trust me, you will be MORE than satisfied. I have never used it in beep mode - just vibrate, and it is always spot on. It will cut your recovery time down to nothing. Only 2 minor issues i've come across in my experience...First, in wood chips in tot-lots it can sometimes be a bit tricky due to the pinpointers extreme detecting depth. Might have to dig down far in those chips. Also, underneath the wood chips themselves are mats or tarps afixed to the ground down say 10 to 15 inches or so. Occasionally the pinpointer will pick up the metal clasps or fixtures of these tarps. Second, sometimes the pinpointer will go a bit nuts and start signaling at everything it comes near or touches. A simple fix is just to shut it off and turn it back on again and look for the target. Other than these two small issues - which happen very infrequently - it is MORE THAN WORTH THE PRICE!!! Admittedly, Sun-ray's might be a bit better. However, the Garrett will do everything the Sun-ray will do minus being able to be hooked up to your detector. You made a smart buy. Easy to use, cuts your search labor & recovery time, and excels at finding target of all sizes - from tiny to large. Enjoy!
