garrett pro pointer

has anyone seen the video of the air test with the pro pointer to get more depth? Thanks ahead of time

They interest me but I really like my SunRay Probe.

Nope. On the garrett forum, there is a sticky on the Pro Pointer with thousands of hits. You might find more info or perhaps a link looking there.

Good luck

If its the one of the Pro-Pointer using the nickle to get more depth, It works.... we tested it at work and it works with other pointers also.

The video is very interesting... but why is it that adding a coin to the barrell enhances the Garrett's Range?

Another thing I found nice about the pro p. p. is you can hold it close to any metal object lets say 1" away and turn it on and it sets the pointer to only depth max. of 1".

OK hate to sound dumb but...
are you supposed to tape the nickel onto the Garrett after you move it on the shaft and set it for the four inches and not the two inches?
Also, I moved to the Garrett from another not to be named probe and I LUV it!
On my say so several persons in my MD club have purchased it and also LUV it!

It seems to make it more sensitive and also works on other pointers also, on the pro-pointer you have to already have it on because it tunes or resets itself each time you turn it on. Also you can de-tune it to cut its range.

Thank you for your response
I will pass on this information
How did it get figured out initially and why the nickel versus another coin?
If you know but..
So Cool

Hate to have to follow my last post but I discussed the above with my MD partner and husband
and he reminded me that we usually turn on the Garrett at each possible find and then turn it off until our next potential find.
We thought everyone did it that way but do you out there keep it on at all times during the hunt?
Obviously setting it as above would need to be done every time it was turned on which would make it very busy during the hunt
and our energy would not be in the right place as in toward the finds.
So if I may ask..please let me know how it goes if you keep your Garrett probe on at all times during the hunt.
Thanks in advance.

I occasionally use that trick with my Pro Pointer if I find that my target is just out of reach. Any small piece of metal will do, it does not need to be a nickle.

someone said they tied a nickel to a string the right length and then it was handy anytime he need to use it to increase depth

Ok so if you just tape the nickle (or piece of metal) to the propointer then can you just turn it on and off and have the 4 inch range every time...or do you need to run it over the shaft each time it is turned on. I do not have access to the videos from the forum on the work computer as they are blocked. But I very muchy would like to know.

Have propointer .... came from my wife for Christmas... very excited to use the new equipment.

I checked your post and it was great
It answered my questions and I saved it on my favorites for easy access.
Thanks for sharing!
Happy Hunting

I read this post because I`m interested in buying a PP but when I read this tip I decided to test it on my useless Sherlock DTS PRO and to my surprice it work on that too.
I put a piece of iron on the back side and slid it upwards as I pressed the button and 4" away from the top it began to scream. Slid it back a couple of mm and tested it on my cellphone and bam found the cellphone 4" away all the time. Great! Now I`m going to reuse this thing.. Cant wait to test it in the field.Maybe I dont need to buy the PP afterall. Thanks for the tip!!
