Do you perhaps mean a manual ground balance? The Freedom Ace had a fixed ground balance, which means if you were in a highly mineralized soil in which the Freedom Ace struggled, there was nothing you could do. The AT Series and the new Vortex all can be ground balanced to accept most soils and salt water. It only takes pushing on a button and bobbing the coil up and down for a few seconds.
