Gather around boys and girls - Garrett's new pinpointer, the PRO-POINTER is here and a nifty little gadget it is..

I field tested the prototype a couple of months ago and am now checking out the production model. The PP is a microprocessor controlled, non-motion, all metal, pointer that operates at maximum sensitivity and needs no tuning or adjustment. It can be detuned over a large target. It operates at 12 khz so is sensitive to small objects. Has a depth of about two inches plus and comes with a nifty little holster. And like all Garrett products it's tough as a tank. .Size is nine inches by 1.5 inches and weighs a mere 7 ozs.

Has both audible and vibrating alerts that increase in intensity the closer you get to the target. Comes with a 3.75 - inch sifting blade on the side plus an LED light. Has side-scan capability, can be used in the rain, washed off under running water, and submerged to just below the speaker. Just press the power switch, the LED light comes on, a slight beep will be heard, and you're ready to go.

The PP uses one nine-volt battery. An alkaline lasts 30 houirs ( carbon and rechargeable less ) and battery change is a snap. Just unscrew the end, drop the dead battery out, and a new one in. Emits a dual-tone alarm when battery is low. The PP can also be used to scan walls for pipes, wires, nails, metal studs, etc.

I am still checking out the production model and I really like this little puppy and it works like a charm and should be a welcome addition to anyone's arsenal of detecting equipment. I'll keep you posted on how it works. Dealers should be getting them now and release date is around September first.

Very nice, what kind of a price can we expect to be on it?

Not sure yet. I think retail is about $149.95. Don't know what the dealer discount prices will be yet. I'll check with Garrett and find out for sure.

I own a pocket Uniprobe, which will go deeper, but is a pain to carry around. The new pinpointer depth sounds about perfect, and accompanied with an off switch as well as being light and compact, will ensure a good turn over of them. I'll be buying one when released and have a detecting buddy that is currently looking for a pinpointer.
Congrats to Garrett on what appears to be, a top little unit.

I assume that it has an off switch. Is that correct?
As a piece of irony. The only detector that I don't use a pinpointer with, is the Ace!
Mick Evans.

It is. It runs the length of the shaft, 3.75 inches long. I wanted one on the tip and thought they would put one on.

That may help with hunting around play equipment. It will also add a greater degree of accuracy in pinpoint as well.
Mick Evans.

would be nice if they made the price more reasonable, it is almost as much as the sunray inline you can get for the ace250.

Yeah I'm hoping it comes down or dealer discounts bring it down. I haven't got the exact price yet. I'm waiting for an answer back. But it is a nice little PP and you can leave it on your belt in the holster when you get in and out of your car.
