Gave the 6" HF DD a try

Been twenty five days since my last XTerra beach hunt post. Something is always found, but nothing significant in the last 12 beach hunts with the XT705. An Ipod, 925 earing and $56.36 clad to be had in total!!
The rings are junkers, but the dolphin/abalone is nice looking. The group picture of finds were all found with the 6" HF DD coil. I decided to try it out on a couple dedicated hunts in back of a few beach bars only. These areas are where all the beach goers lay, play, and drink! The sand is littered and well blended with tabs, bottle caps and twist offs. I hunt these areas all the time to the tune of grunts and tones repeating in uninterrupted frequency in my headphones. Fresh drops are easy and often found when using the 5x10 HF DD Elliptical coil, but getting past the trash to the somewhat deeper targets that have been turned under by the rake is not that easy.
So I tried 2 times, @5hrs, of slow and go with the 6" HF DD. I was able to distinguish and separate the targets location down by the swing...Narrowing it down to a single tone and steady ID in between all the trash. Just surprised no gold with all those (16) nickels!!! Not just the nickels, but notice how a lot of the coins have been there a while judging by their condition. I also had 28 cents in pennies not pictured. So when you consider most of the coins I get are shinny fresh drops...... that little coil can read between the trash nicely. The closest gold is the round pendant/charm that's 1/20 12k GF. Lots of smalls.. buttons, nuts, beads, fishing crimps, stainless cuff bracelet, charms, one hitter, etc,..etc.
*** I am rocking out with a newly acquired Ipod that survived burial by the beach rake and at least one night of rain. Even has some good tunes that I like...., but I will be loading it with some good old southern rock, The Boss, smooth Jazz and some Frank.................Zappa, not Sinatra! GL ALL

As far as that 6 inch HF DD goes...I like it a lot better than the 5x10. Maybe because I can control the coil better, but it just 'fits' better for me. Seems to go a bit deeper too.

Nice finds Bob among all that trash.

Didn't know there was anyone left who appreciates " Zappa"..

Oh, and nice work Bob..

At this point in time Bob has only accounted for the mp3 player. ha ha ha

Great finds pulled from the trash Bob! :thumbup: On the beach, I'm thinkin' that a little "Dirty Love" would be appropriate. :rofl:

* Jack..this is the first one I found that still works, found an Apple Nano one morning, but just happened to run into the owner that same morning. Last thing I had was a walkman:rofl: SRV is a blues rock legend...he makes the playlist.

* Mark...I was surprised at no cash during the 4th holiday....Always been a rocker, I'm just an old one now!

* therover..You guys are talking SRV and Zappa...gotta love it !:thumbup: :clapping:
At the beach in the trash is about the only time I use the 6". I would much rather have the 5X10 just for that pointy nose that's great for poking around beach furniture.

* DDog...We're getting old...kids today don't know good music!!

* Mapper...Shhhhhhh!

* OLH...Like the 5x10 HF DD Elliptical rarely leaves my XT705, Apostrophe'/Overnite Sensation rarely leaves my CD player in the truck:cool: 6am on my way to MD and FZ is singing "Dirty Love"..... blasting away, "Come on, Frenchie"....Snap it!

Thanks GL ALL

I personally am more of a Frank Marino fan than SRV.
And as far as FZ goes, I'll never forget seeing 200 Motels at a drive-in.......now I feel officially old. :lol:
Speaking of old rockers, did you hear? Johnny Winter just died. :(

It's too bad that we can't have jams for a threshold tone. ;)

OMG... I listened to that live album senior year in HS (78-79) about a thousand times !

I'm a king bee baby....buzzin around your hive.

My memory is sometimes hit or miss but the Winter Brothers... weren't they practicaly albinos? Its a shame to hear about Jonny W. dying, feeling a bit older for sure.

Mahogany Rush Frank Marino? Now that's an obscure reference! How about some old Deep Purple Machine Head?

It's not obscure! Frank is still around, still active on the music scene, and arguably the best guitarist still alive. Do a YouTube search.

When it comes to Deep Purple, I'm more of a "Lazy" fan (pre-Machine Head).
