George Washington and our founding fathers, many of which are buried right here in this Virginia soil, must be rolling in their graves...

what is taking place was not meant to be.
some of you can see it slowly happening, others will just turn their heads and say.....that can't happen here.
many will just let their rights be slowly stripped away.
and one day, you'll wake up and wonder, what the hell went wrong.

it hasnt happened yet i live in charlottesville va back of your nickel tj. this will not pass and if it does im still going to do what i love the most

If your not doing more than just posting post after post here then you are doing no more than the rest of us? Are you just turning your head and letting your "rights" be stripped here.
How much money have you raised to hire a lobbyist to fight for your rights? How many meetings have you held and how are you getting the word out to the general public to try to get them on your side?
Seriously, what are you really doing. Just posting complaints here on the web and calling or emailing your congressman is a waist of time. You need money and lots of it and you need people and lots of them on your side to fight these things.
I agree this is a sad day but you have to admit we that we as detectorist are partially to blame.

i'm glad i donated money to Bob and Ed. in my opinion, those poor guys were framed and their lives wrecked.
i've done plenty.
the real question is, what have you done, other than blame us, and Bob and Ed.
you will likely awake to that morning.
adios.

If you have or get a group together and can hire a lobbyist I will even donate some $$$.

Just because a criminal kills someone with a gun doesn't mean my right to own a weapon should be taken away. The problem seems to be that the archaeologists have been working on this for quite some time, and the Senators and Representatives have not thought it completely through because there is not a big enough voice to be heard from the opposition. My question is ..... where are the big 4 or 5 metal detector companies and what are they doing to stop this? It seems that they have the most to lose if this bill passes. This could just be the beginning of a trend that could severely limit our hobby country wide. How come I have not heard from them and their Lobbyist? Just a question. Thanks. therick

You got that right, time to vote that woman out, yesterday. I don't know what well she drinks out of, but its tainted. I've been writing to companies for the last couple of hours. Seems to me they need to be REAL concerned. I understand that Fl. has the treasure trove law, which Mel Fisher was very instrumental in gettin enacted in that state. There are only a few states that have this law, but it defines metal detecting as being a legal and legitimate activity. I will try to find out more on that law, and what other states have similar laws. But from what I understand, Fl. has one of the best so far, thanks to Mr. Fisher

Unless you ask them for youself. It seems the opposition has a funny, but effective way in making sure you don't hear anything possitive in our favor. The less we know, the less we squeak. The opposition is getting very squeaky. And people listen to the noisiest group. Guys, its time to get noisy, very, very noisy. <img src="/metal/html/angry.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":mad"> <img src="/metal/html/angry.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":mad"> <IMG SRC="/metal/html/flag.jpg" BORDER=0 width=32 height=17 ALT="usa~"> <IMG SRC="/metal/html/ml.gif" BORDER=0 width=30 height=15 ALT="m~"> Maybe I'll throw one a these <IMG SRC="/metal/html/csflag.gif" BORDER=0 width=22 height=15 ALT="::"> in there to!

Hidden Riches. The very words raise eyebrows. The blood moves faster through the veins. When the possibility of finding cached wealth presents itself, the heart races. Dreams of recovering large, difficult stashes have kept many poor souls awake at nights. Scarcely literate people scarcely struggle through books and pour over maps, endeavoring to pinpoint a lead. Those with slothful inclinations clamber vigorously up steep inclines, cross dangerous chasms, and go whenever and wherever the call of lost treasure beackons.
To most of the world hidden riches are only dreams, if thought of at all. Few people actually believe in treasure. In the eye of the

Hey D{Va.} Didn't these guys "more or less" admit to their guilt?? How is the "appeal coming along?? I mean "written permission" { from an authorized source } is a valid defense..these guys apparently didn't have it. So what are you saying?? Nothing against Relic Hunters but to be truthful with you when I see a post that says a CSA buckle is worth $1500.00 then that makes me wonder. I'm a "detectorists" too BTW..iF i DIG A "RELIC"..SO WHAT?? IT GOES IN MY BUCKET. I think it's the people that are in it for "more than fun" that are the culprits. HH Lamar
