Hey Everyone I havent posted anything in quite some time but I have been lurking in the shadows looking at all of the great finds. I am hoping you all can help me. I think I found a George Washington Inagural Button today in my backyard. (House is 106 years old and before that was a large tree nursery). I have included a couple of pictures including the 1893 "V" Nickel I foung in the same hole( My first one). Let me know what you think. Happy Hunting to all. Dicejr in Central Mass.

I am not sure if it is real or not. It matches the picture and seems to be pretty old. I am not sure how to find out if it is authentic or not. Does any body have any ideas??

<center> well by the looks I say its real
it is a true GW button being it says long live the prez.
But there were copy's made into the 1800's and also steif still makes copy's today but those you know are fake
Being the age of your house really has no bearing what can be found there, the ground we walk is older then 3 hundred yrs and anything can be found and in strange places :D
But back to the button I say it looks to be the true deal :D and grats on a sweet find, it's one I have wanted and not found .... yet :D
Even it it was an 1800's copy I still love it but I think 100% real
anything left of the shank on the back?????

Thanks for the link Brian. I had found the same one it appears that the button in style 5A. I think I knocked the shank off in the hole or maybe not. I was digging the "V" Nickel (my first) and when I rechecked the hold the button was on the outside edge of the hole I had cut for the plug. I did schratch it and the scratch appears to be bright coppr and where the shank would be appears to also be fresh copper where it broke off. Unfortunate but still a pretty good find. Any idea as to the value??? Thanks again, dicejr.
