Getting back to the "swing" of things.

Hi folks,
Been looking around for a forum and this BH forum seems to be the most active that I can find. I've been dormant from the hobby for about 4 years. But, I bought some fresh batteries and went to the local park to MD this past weekend. It was like meeting an old friend. I was a little rusty but came away with some clad and practice. I started out with the 8" coil but had to go to the trusty 4" because of trash. One thing that has changed in Florida is that the schools are locked up tight w/ 6' chain link fence all around. I see some playground will be hard to get to.
I've had my Landstar since about '04. Been detecting off and on since '82. Back on the old BH forum my screen name was crpando. I enjoyed helping others and taken on a few bashers also. I look forward to hanging out here. Anybody remember a south Ga. guy by the name of "Pineapple". Looks like he stopped MDing in '06.
I'm very interested in possibly getting the 10" coil. Has any one used it at the beach???
Happy MDing,

Yep, it's my favourite coil, beach and parks. I get about 25% more depth than using the 8" coil. My best depth was around 9" on a 14k necklace with a 14k ring on it. This was using the BH T4. Glad your back into the hobby. regards Nugget.

HAVE HAD MY 10 INCH COIL SO LONG WORE A BIG HOLE IN IT
WORKS GREAT AND SO MUCH LIGHTER
NOT MUCH MORE DEPTH BUT IT DOES CLEAR UP SOME SIGNALS

hey chris........i too have a landstar with 8 and 4 inch coils, and they have sat in a closet for several years as well, this most recent noreaster that hit the east coast has spurred my interest in the hobby again, so i have been reading the forums again and will probably start getting out after the cold weather leaves.............also i do remember your name and pineapple from the old forum, as i remember he used to tell some pretty long and to me quite interesting stories and was always very knowledgeable and helpful..........anyway, it was nice to see a reference to that old forum, i spent many hours reading and learning there.

Hey Cobra148, yes I remember you for the old forum and it's nice to meet you again. My MD interests also increases about the time winter comes. Pineapple was one of a kind with his stories, his finds, and his willingness to help others. His website is still up but his totals stop in '06. I look forward to your posts and your finds. It's great to read posts from other Landstar users, maybe learn a tick or technique. On thing I just picked up on that I never done before was use "All Metal" mode with the 4" coil. I'm going to try that at the beach which this is a good time starting now to be hunting the wet sand because hardly nobody is at the beach and the north wind push the water further out. You get an extra 50-100' of wet sand to work with.
Take care.
