Getting crud off of 10k???

Found this 10k Cross w/ dia a while back. Has some red/brown crud on it. I thought it was plated but after pickin on it it seems to be something stuck to it. Is there any way to soak it in some wonder cleaner and get the crud off???

I never leave Orchard Beach with less than 20-30. You need to improve a bit...
