Getting my Safari ready for the beach!!

Goldstrike

Well-known member
In about 9 days, I'll be going to the beach for 10 days so I'm checking everything on it and making sure my Safari is A.OK for the trip. I'll be detecting the beaches down towards San Diego for close to 10 days and although it is a high mileage machine, I fully expect to get some gold/silver rings and some nice pieces of jewellery! So far, this machine has detected some awesome finds and I'm so looking forward to the beach detecting experience again!

Goldstrike, you've made many quality finds with your Safari. I'm looking forward to your post, there will be gold. Now hurry up and and put that thing back together.

Thanks guy's:thumbup:Yes, I need to replace the foam grip/protector but just haven't gotten around to replacing it yet. Although I've had it for awhile, I still get great service from it and when it does die (hopefully never)! I think I'll buy another Safari. For the last 23 years, my wife and children have beach camped at different beaches along the coastline. Now that the kids have grown and gone, we still camp along with friends and on occasion, the kids along with the grandkids have joined us too! Here's hoping for some great finds soon! Good luck to you all out there in the detecting world as well!!

fwiw, I use the 3M brand Vetwrap, available at most CoOps for $3-4. No adhesive and adheres to itself. Just wrap to get the thickness that fits your hand the best. If you want, you can take it off and reapply with no loss of product or adhesion.

I'll give it a shot! Thanks!

Hey Goldstrike I hear tennis racket grip wrap works good.

Another great idea! thank you!

Looking over my detector, I noticed one of the lugs on my coil was cracking. Being the cheap guy that I am lol!!! I got the J.B. Quick Weld epoxy resin out and along with a trip to Home Depot for thick neoprene washers (non metallic/magnetic) proceeded to strengthen BOTH lugs and the finished job is much stronger than the from new design. Not much more to do to be fully prepared in a few more day's to 'shred' those beaches up and down the coast!!:clapping:

Goldstrike, that's getting your money's worth on that high milage safari......Yes I do a lot of Beach camping (Beach Hunting) in Bolsa state beach near Huntington Beach, In March were camping at silver strand Beach (San Diego) and will be dragging The Safari along
