Getting ready to order my Deus...

Phil

New member
Has anybody got any tips for me starting out with this detector. I'm a long time Etrac and Spectra user but old age is making them harder to swing for long periods.:) I'm planning on using it for hunting home sites in fields after the crops are harvested this fall. Any advice or tips will be greatly appreciated.

Congrats! From what you described be sure to get the 11" coil. The XP Deus is easy to learn. Holler if you have specific questions. We offer lifetime support to all our customers!

While the 11 inch coil gives a little better coverage and depth (a plus for the use you stated), the 9 is a bit lighter. These are not huge differences, but only you know what is most important to you. A really nice feature of the Deus that does not get talked about much is the scale stamped on the shaft that lets you adjust its length exactly and quickly when setting up. I would suggest you play with that until you find where it balances best for you. This will be a great help in longer swinging. Take from another old guy.
XP has really put a lot of thought into making a (the?) most user friendly, flexible and effective detector going! IMHO

Trying to make the same decision myself, current CTX user, but this Deus sure seems like the ticket, I too am getting older and can not swing nearly as long as I used too.

The CTX has a lot of issue and will be super expensive to repair once out of warranty.
5 year warranty on the Deus too.

Had great time with CTX and no problems, but getting a bit heavy for me.

I still have a wrist injury after using the CTX for 6 months. Very heavy and ergonomicaly unfriendly.
