GMT COIL NOISE

I was out detecting this week end and I noticed that when bumped a weed or small twig it made noise. Is this normal, this is my first time out with it so I don't have much experiance with it. I owned a garret scorp before this and you would have to hit the coil hard to make a noise on the speaker thank you

Hi moondog, I just got mine last summer & was told you need to rap the cord tight around the shaft so it doesn't flop around. Also make sure all your cable ends are snugged up.
Mine worked fine, but was careful not to smack the coil on rocks etc ... if you still have trouble, check with a Whites dealer.

I think GH is right,if the cable can move in the area between where it leaves the rod and enters the coil it could create a signal, being that it is in the electric field of the coil.

Thanks for the info, I am just using the 2 straps that came with my unit. may be I should buy a couple more and make it all tight. Last month out at Quartzsite I didn't have the problem as much. Maybe i am swinging the coil too fast, but I will try snugging the cable up. thanks again.
