Going to buy a Excalibur which one 1000 or 800 looking for advice and will they detect small gold jewlery?

Hey Frank in NH. I bought an Excal a few months ago & already found a nice High School ring, 10k. It came in loud & clear. Found a silver dime the other day & Silver nickle, wheaties, some earrings. I've been running Sens about 10-12, but I'm going in the morning & try 1-2. I'm hunting in brackish water here in Lake Ponchartrain. In your area, you may not be able to run that high. I have the 1000. I decided I'd rather have all the depth I can get. The 8" will be lighter, but I don't mind hurting for a nice ring. I also just ordered a straight shaft to balance the weight. I can't wait to try that.

Hey Mark, Yes, I got it & thanks for the info. I'm going out this morning & give it a shot.
Wish I had my straight shaft, though. Can't wait to get it.
See Ya, HH

I've had an Excalibur about 3 years now. It has the 8" coil. I went to the 8" because I thought it would be easier to pinpoint than with the 10".
I've made some fantastic finds with it. It's by far the best detector I've ever owned.
