Going to go with larger coil on another Excal......

Steve from Ohio

I am going to keep the 8 inch coil as per everyone's advice on the Excalibur 800 and get another Excalibur to modify with all the good stuff.....Waterproof Gray Ghosts....new batteries.....straight shaft........

Anyone have any experience with the Sunray Intruder S-12 coil?

I want a larger coil not so much for water work, but to cover larger expanses of saltwater beach and low tide wet sand. Don't want to use the E-trac near salt water so the Excalibur is the choice.

I have heard good things about the 10 inch Tornado coil, and also the WOT coil.

Any recommendations?

it is just as deep as the WOT but not near as heavy.this is my 4th S12 and GT set up and the weight is less that stock 10" coil.iv found i can run the sensitivity almost wide open with all the S12 's iv had but only about 1/2 way with the WOT and this is on the same beach.i still like the S8 better in the water but the S12 is killer on the beach.

The 10X12 SEF has better seperation than the S12 and is about on par with the WOT but a whole lot lighter. Ive only used mine inland, havent gotten it to the beach yet so I cant honestly comment on the depth comparisons there. Definetly another coil to consider. If youve got an Excal with an 8" already I wouldnt bother with the 10" size, get the 12". The 15" WOT or even the 12X15 SEF would be too much(for me anyways) to swing in the water.

beach machines on the market today. I have an S-12, also, but its not as deep as the WOT, it's close. I tried the S.E.F and I felt like I wasn't getting the coverage as with the round DD's. I not here to knock any coil either, I also love the 8" coinsearch.
