my finds this year, Good or bad. These finds were found at an old house they just tore down outside of town. The house was over a hundred years old. Didn't get to go over it good it was late evening when we started and got dark too quick. A buddy of mine just bought himself a detector (Ace 250) and I was trying to get him started finding stuff. He beat me on the lincs, he found a 55 wheatie. I liked the little gun I found. Don't know what the big item is, think it might be a mount for a bell. There used to be an old Nazarene church right beside the house. The church has been gone for many years, I can remember it from when I was a kid. If anyone has an idea what it is I would love to know. Maybe when I clean it up it might have a name or something on it. Anyway it was a fun evening starting my metal detecting season. Hope the weather holds up so I can get some more tecting inat that site. Think there might be more goodies too be found there.
God Bless,
HH

Pretty sure that is a bell mount. What does it say on the side of the gun?

I am going to be thinking about this for weeks. I have no idea what it might be, but your guess makes alot of sense. Is it made of brass?

A cowboy on each end huh? Mabe a sadle hanger or bit holder. Something to do with cowboys or tack. (?). The cowboys kind of make me think it might not have anything to do with a bell - unless it was a dinner bell on some ranch or something like that. Still thinking.

not being more specific. Its the little gun that has the name and cowboys head on it. I haven't cleaned the big cast iron thingy yet. Its a little over 12" wide and made of cast iron. I still think its a church bell mount. When I clean it I'll post a better pic.

Hubley on it? It looks like a Hubley, from the 50's. Nice going.

The big cast iron piece is a yoke to hold an old farm bell. Hope this helps. I sell antiques and I've sold several complete bells.

Post away, as I always like seeing what others dug and I like antiques!

I was using the Ace 250 with the 9 X 12 coil. The bell yoke was about 8" deep.
