Going to try something new

I have only used manual sensitivity when swinging the coil.. They say that in semi-auto the unit picks the best sensitivity so why are some users setting semi-auto at 22 or 26, why not use the max and let the unit adjust its self??? I am going to use semi-auto at max sensitivity for about 4 months and see what my luck finds. I have notice in my coin garden with coins at six inches deep I have to set the sensitivity at (6) manual to lock on good but in semi-auto a sensitivity of (1) locks on the same coins at six inches. And when I dig a hole and use my probe in pinpoint mode the semi-auto is dead on compared to manual. Oh, my X-1 probe stop working today, is there something I can quick check other then the switch before mailing it off? Thanks for reading...

Regarding that probe, same thing happened to me. More than likely it's the cable going into the probe itself that has a broken wire. Sometimes we inadvertently palm the probe (bending the cable and breaking the wires inside) in our excitement to unearth that MS 63 1916D Merc. When you send it in to Sunray (It was $100 repair) they get it back quick. Mine works great now. Mike(MI)
