Gold coin - possibly

steve in so la

Well-known member
Got out to some parks today wandering around the fields. Dug about 45 coins but this gold looking coin popped up. It's got the bezel around it so it was a pendant, is in great shape, no rust, etc. Also, for it's size it is quite heavy. I'll take it to my jeweler tomorrow, they were closed today, and have them test it
The pendant next to it is stamped 10 K and is partial Black Hills gold. Wish me luck !! If anyone has knowledge on the coin please let me know - either way. Steve in so az

Looks like you may have hit the gold mine and good luck in it being a gold coin! The pendant is pretty! :) God Bless! Betty

The bezel looks like it is part of the mold in the pic? Chinese cash coin design. Let us know!

Well gold plated is better than tin, aluminum or rusty iron! At least it gave you hope....sorry it didn't pass the test! Keep on and you will find more silver and gold! :) God Bless! Betty

That's a bummer...but it is still a really neat find!

Next time buddy!

Never forget seeing my first "Gold Coin" come up from the sand,..........my heart about stopped, ...............................a dull gold coin covered with dirt & sand!

Turned out to be a Washington Quarter someone had gold plated.

Darn!

Oh well, it sure was exciting while it lasted.

You know, I stared at that Gold Plated Washington Quarter for hours trying to make it change into an old $10 or $100 Gold piece, .......... but that stubborn little coin just would not change.

Oh well, I'll just keep looking.

I have a cousin who used to be addicted to going to auctions. I was with him once and he bid on a large box of old clothes. He won the box for $7 and I teased him about it the rest of the evening.

The next day he called me and asked me to come over. I inquired as to why and he said; "I want to show you what I found in that box of old clothes you teased me about." When I arrived at his home he handed me an old long tailed black suit coat. "Try this on and see if it fits you.", he said. I put the coat on and my arms stuck 7 inches beyond the cuffs. "You called me all the way across town to show me this?", I said. "Look in the inside breast pocket and see what I found in that old coat.", he said smiling from ear to ear. I slipped my had into the pocket and felt a coin, ............ and pulled out a mint $10 Gold piece.

Needless to say my chin hit the floor!

I never did tease him about silly stuff he bought at auction after that, ................. not even the huge box of 18 old bowling balls or the box of 31 old highschool football shoulder pads, ....... nope I learned my lesson and keep my mouth closed now. :lmfao:
