What will a gold coin read like on the safari?? A friend has one but i'v yet stop by his house to run my coil over it , i'v herd they ring up in the pull tab + nickel range ????

Depends on the composition. Gold jewelry can be anywhere on the scale from foil up. I don't know about gold coins and their compositiion.

Yes both high and low density , also did it in all metal mode and it would bounce around between 27 28 29 and 30

I found an 1869 French 20 franc gold piece with my Safari about a year and half ago or more. I posted it here at the time. As I recall, it registered a solid 22 and is just about the same size as a US nickle. French gold coins of that time frame are 90% pure. I have not found anything else that is solid gold with the Safari. I think that was only the second or third time I had used the machine and I was basically digging everything just trying to learn the machine.
