I don't know if this has been done yet but I'll still ask the question. Has anyone done a VDI test on gold coins if they have them? I've seen them years ago for the DFX but haven't seen it for the V3 yet. I don't have the gold coins so I'm SOL LOL!!!!

Thanks for the post! I seen a video from HKSTRONGSIDE for pennies. Are there any other videos from him?

ground, trash and depth can all effect vdi, recently i found a seated dime in park fil at 2 inches hitting solid at 62 , also a couple deep large cents in the woods at 60 64 when other times vdis ring true . you just never know till its dug. air tests do give a most of the time number.

Strongside has videos for all the various coins. The only real value in the videos is that they show that all the information you get in the polar plot is the same as in the pin point mode.

Polar plot is also basically for shallow targets. It loses accuracy with depth. The pin point gives the same information but is accurate to much greater depths. So since I have to pin point any way why bother with the polar plot?

I have air scanned a $5 gold coin and it reads out at 49. I set my detector to high tone 48-49-50 so I can check these signals. Sure the gound and trash might skew the signal but most will be caught. History shows that the most lost gold coin was a $5. People actially earned a dollar a day and paydays they received a $5 gold coin. Hole in the pocket, slips or other causes put these lovely coins out there for us to find. Near mines the paymaster would set up in a close park on payday. But, when in doubt, did it all.

Most guys will spend their entire detecting career and never find a gold coin.

I use only the polar plot. The only thing that I found that was different was when he showed what it looks like with a bottle cap. It's the same loops as a coin on it's side. I'm not going to be able to go out for a while now anyways. I picked up my 6 year old daughter and threw out my back. Yesterday I was doing better but I had to lift a leaking toilet at my cabin today and now it's sore again! I'm an idiot sometimes but it needed to be fixed for this weekend and it didn't hurt at the time I picked it up. But now I'm SORE SORE SORE! Like Arny said...."I'll be back!"

Thanks everyone and HH!!!
