gold coins vdi

Gold coins will vdi around +24 to +26 i believe this will depend on the size. They will hit hardest in the 7khz range. Anything under 18k will hit hardest on the 22khz frequency. I have no idea why this is what my air tests show
I wish someone could explain this.

Howdy Vx Man--

I posted this a few months ago. I hope that it helps!

Using the V3i, in the Coin Mode, with the D2 Coil and the settings of: RX 1, AM 55 and Disc 55, I had these results:

$1 Gold (Types 1,2 & 3) VDI......14-16......Dominant Frequency.....22.5 KHz
$2.5 Gold (Lib & Ind) VDI......33-35......Dominant Frequency......7.5 KHz
$3 Gold VDI......35-37......Dominant Frequency......7.5 KHz
$5 Gold (Lib & Ind) VDI......49-50......Dominant Frequency......7.5 KHz
$10 Gold (Lib & Ind) VDI......54-58......Dominant Frequency......7.5 KHz
$20 Gold (Lib & St. G) VDI......74-75......Dominant Frequency......2.5 KHz
$50 Gold Buffalo .9999 VDI......87-89.....Dominant Frequency.......2.5 KHz

All coins are either PCGS or NGC slabbed. I don't know what , if any, influence the incapsulation had on any of these readings.

Hopefully this information will put a Gold Coin in your pouch!

Happy Hunting

Thanks blind squirrel!
I copied it down on paper but couldn't remember where I saw it. Great work!

So if this is correct there is no way to discriminate a bottle cap especially one that is rusted. OR a Carona cap. If you can please tell me how.

Don't. Know I run hi pro and accept 0-94 and have only dug a few bottle caps but they were folded in on them self, never dug a corona top my machine wont pick em up its weird.

No there is not a way to tell gold from other conductors in the same range, if there was, it would be the best selling detector in the world and put every one else out of business. In reality, gold coins and jewelry can be found at every VDI from 0 to 75 and the only way to find it all is to dig it all.

I had heard a dealer make a pitch once and he said it would discriminate bottle caps It stuck in my head like a splinter. I have never been able to even come close. Bottle cap reject scares me.

You CAN discriminate bottle caps along with pull tabs or anything else you don't want to dig. But it comes with a price of not being able to pick up on other items that hit in the same range. I can usually ID 95% of trash that I don't want to dig but I don't do it by discriminating it out, I do it by listening to it and making a positive ID on it that way.
The best discriminator is your digger.

I had the tones down really well with my dfx. Still learning my V3I. I hunted in mixed mode on the beach with my dfx not quite there with the V.
