Hi just need a bit of info, Iam in australia and looking for a good strong starter gold detector can anybody help?

Hi mike , thanks for the info ,what machine do you use and what do you hunt for, is the gpx 4000 is the lower grade to the 4500 and if you are not full bore at this it seems a waste of money maybe when you retire it may be a good thing but at this time of my life to much work no play .

I have a minelab X70, SE Explorer and the Excalibur 1000. I would take a guess a say the 4500 you are refereeing to is the GPX unit. I mainly hunt on the beaches. If you read through the post on this forum you will see there is a wealth on information in relation to detecting and the different types of machines that are out there.

If you are just starting out I would recommend the minelab X70, but there are a lot more knowledgeable members of this forum than myself and I am sure you will get some very sound advice from these guys, who I could only hope to match a quarter of their finds.

BTW what state are you in?

Mike:cheers:

Mike i live in the south west of western australia , strangle enough there is a bit of gold around the area that not to many people talk about, i think? untill you find it could all be bull anyway nice to talk.
