Gold nuggets pic

Here's my claim to gold fame - the one on the left I won in a raffle in the gold club. The ones on the right I got using a high banker which is a sluice & here in Az we had to bring in water to use it. The water recycles. The plastic holders are just over one inch across for size. Steve in so az

Our biggest pieces are more like the two teeny tiiiny ones on the bottom right in yer pic

where they will pop up. One time I was out in the gold fields with a friend and we were detecting for them. After several hours and very little luck we headed back to the truck. We were almost there, walking along the dirt back road and my friend gets a signal in the road. He then digs up a nugget about as big as my big one.
One has to always be ready for good luck I guess . Also a good message for swinging along as you travel. Steve

I never turn my DFX off 'till the bumper or door on my truck is screamin at me. Got me a nice '48 LC about a foot from my tuirck that way one day.

Nice gold nuggets, Steve! Congrats on winning and finding them! I usually kept my detector on as soon as I reached an area to start detecting and then when I got to the back of my car to put my detecting things in the trunk! Never know what ya might find going to and from where you were hunting! :clapping: :)

God Bless!

I am hoping for a bunch when I go next month on a big gold dig with my daughter! :)

Are you asking Steve??

people who saw something exotic said "they had seen the elephant" , maybe from the early days of circus shows that had elephants no one had ever seen before. steve

when someone gave up on something...i.e. If the pioneers turned back from their trek west, it was because they had seen the elephant. It goes along with what Steve said. They had seen that exotic thing, so why bother keep going. Almost like our modern saying of "been there, done that".

the way i understand it is that when a forty niner was prospecting and found his first piece of gold he could say that he had seen the elephant, kinda like being intiated into a club.
