Gold Photos- I Need Help on this one.

Gerry in Idaho

New member
Folks, I find my share of gold and have seen many specimens in the last couple years. Today I had a customer stop in and show me his finds from his 1st time out with his GB-2. I have never dug any gold that had this kind of attached rock and want to ask some of you for your opinions.

The host rock is silvery/grey in color and very hard. It looks like Galena or Pyrite??? but I have never seen gold coming from it?

Please let me know what it is and if the host rock should be removed to expose more gold? Also, if you know what it is and its numbers (to do a Specific Gravity Test) please let me know.

This piece may be for sale if the price is right.

It is over 2" Length and 1/2" thick. The wt is over 4+ ounces.

hey Gerry, interesting for sure, I would love to see this one close up and personal. Could be pyrite, or if theres garnets in it, a skarn cap with gold on top. I emailed you about 2 days ago from your website, hope to hear frm you soon!!

I found out it is Pyrite and not sure of its SG weight yet.
I leave to train customer for a few days and when I get back next week I'll try to shoot you a couple photos.

Thanks,

This is a spectacular specimin! and as good as the pics are they don`t show it`s true beauty,This really belongs in a Museum or collection.
I think theres plenty of AU not showing but best kept that way in my opinion.I`m sure you wont have a problem getting the right price!
Amazing piece Gerry:thumbup:
