I started using a new technique on the areas I hunt. For the final pass I only use the nickle notch, one below and two above. I am basically just looking for gold. Paid off the first timeout. 10kt 1971 class ring. There is a name on the inside so it will be easier to find the owner.

As for your new technique, I was thinking of doing the same exact thing so I'm really glad to see that it worked out for you. Out of my last four or five solid nickel hits in zero disc mode one was indeed a nickel and the rest were all small pieces of can slaw.
I recently found my first gold ring but the signal jumped around a bit. Possibly because it was a small ring and very close to the surface.
