Golden uMAX Lunch Break Hunt

Went for a quick lunch break hunt with the Golden. I hunted for around 30 minutes at a small park with playground. I have hunted this one before with the MXT but I gave the Golden a shot this time :detecting: Here is a pic of what I found. [attachment 81218 DSCN2240.JPG] I used the wide notch while hunting around the picnic tables and I went to all metal in the gravel play area... :tesoro: HH TonyTX :tesoro:

I had even less time, but hopped out of the truck with my Pantera with dreams of gold and only dug 3 pennies from what COULD have been a good spot. There were 4 Parks Dept trucks of workers right next to me, so it worked out very well, as a great show for them!
I was in, out, and very clean about it... Only passed on two targets that were deeper.

Hay Tony,

I can tell by your post that you're on a good path.

Looks like someone beat you to the playground.

It was probably you.

Most people don't dig bobby pins. To me, that means

that you realize that small gold can easily hide.

Digging bobby pins can expose the goodies.

That's why I dig them, when chances are good.

Keep up the good work and the Golden will surely

do it's magic.

Hey Tabdog... Yea I've learned it's best to dig very signal when hunting those little ol' play areas so I don't miss any small gold stuff! I think someone here mentioned hunting with the Golden in all metal and it really does a good job in the sand and gravel. I kept trying to find that darn bobby pen and finally had to use my pointer to finally nab it. I would have rather seen a little glistening gold jewelry but not every time :wacko: The train has one magnet on each side of it I found out when I saw some of the metal objects sticking to it! I really love these Tesoro's. Easy to swing :detecting: all day long! Thanks again.... TonyTX

I got a wooden buss with a magnet. I found it when I took my Compadre

out the first time and found some good stuff that had been over looked before

and some new droppings.

Tabdog, Nice ... them choo choos must be popular!! :beers: I will probably go back and hunt it one more time this weekend if the weather is nice. I keep the 5.75 on the Golden but I've got the stock coil and shaft handy in case I want to change it. HH to ya ... TonyTX :tesoro:

In a half hour - I think I would have to shovel some chow down the pipeline first - then hunt for a half hour - Oops, am I late returning from lunch :blink:
 
If that bus had them rare earth super magnets - you would love taking the bus detecting - them powerful magnets spun around in a hole can sometimes pull nasty just out.:thumbup:

Hi Tony

I also use my Golden during my lunch and have started hitting the tot lots. Good luck with your lunch hunts and hopefully a nice gold ring will show up. I have found that the Golden finds some very small micro metal objects. I feels like I'm prospecting! I recently picked up a Vaquero and will be using it to see how it compares to the Golden for tot lot hunting.

Ray(Ca), I bet you will like the Vaquero! :clapping: Seems to be a very good detector from what I've read. I really like the Golden since I bought it from a friend a month or so ago. I also like the tone ID feature and the variable notch. When I run all metal in the tot lots, it seems to be very sensitive to small objects as mentioned. I'm keeping the 5.75 on it at the moment. I haven't been using my MXT a whole lot since I got this one. Keep us posted on your Vaquero adventures!! :detecting: Thanks, TonyTX :tesoro:
 
Nice finds with that Golden, glad to see it's finally geting some use. You might want to invest a few bucks in a short handled sand scoop to use in those gravel/sand tot lots. Just scoop till the target disappears and it's in your scoop, at least most things are. Small foil and crumpled beaver tails and tiny bits of canslaw will slip thru, but most stuff is right in there. Shortens the recovery time, no doubt!! See ya Saturday!!
