Golden uMax with 12" x 10" Concentric Coil

Any time you go with a larger coil of a machine with preset ground balance like the Golden, you need to send the detector in to Tesoro so they re-set the internals to work with that larger coil.

You will not get peak performance with that large coil until you do that.
 
That could explain the greater variation in tones in the nickle range. It may be a charactoristic of this size coil or maybe of this particular coil. Checking how it is ground balanced showed it was a little positive, but not off real bad. I've set the ground balance for my Cibola without any problem but haven't for the Golden. Actually, the stock coil is a little on the positive side too so it wouldn't hurt to adjust the ground balance on it anyway.
