Golden uMax ?

I have a Silver uMax and I love this machine. I was wondering if the Golden would help me with the environment that I am in. I hunt in very trashy environments behind 2 very large bars on the beach. There is every thing there bottle tops, cans galore, pull tabs, foil, screw caps, its like hunting in the bottom of a trash can. It is not that I have not found anything with the Silver, I have 26 grams of silver just during spring break. I know 26 grams is not that much for some but for me its alot. We just don't get the gold here. Anyway will the Golden work just as well in this target rich environment or should I just stick with the Silver? Thank you for any help in this matter!!!

It's been along time since I have used a Golden

That is really what the golden is designed for.Hunting in the worst conditions possible. The golden can give a detectorist a breath of fresh air.You can set yourself up with a serious cherry picken program with the golden.I hope tesoro gets the golden back on line.I would not want to be without a golden. To much of a stress releaver. :-D

You have to watch that foil setting or you will miss gold rings, I did some testing with the one i owned and if it was at foil i lost some gold rings, may be why you have not found many gold rings, of course you will have to dig lots of aluminum , its to badd aluminum comes right in thear with gold.

If you are on the beach just use a long handled sand scoop, recheck the hole, fill the hole, pocket the trash or goodies and move on. With a sand scoop you should be able to clean the trash out pretty quick and get to the good stuff. I know it is still somewhat of a pain, but compared to getting down on your knees on land and digging a plug and searching the hole and your diggings with a pinpointer, what you are doing is much quicker. You could also try the 5.75" coil on the Silver to help with seperation. Getting another detector to solve your problems? Why not, a good golfer has more than one club in his bag. I can't suggest the Outlaw or the Golden, because I own the Silver and a Tiger Shark. According to the dealer I purchased from, you can never have too many Tesoro's. I think he is right.

Is this a Salt Water beach or fresh water? If its a fresh water beach, the Silver is great, the Golden will let you know what you have within a certain part of the conductivity range, which is great, but to be honest, on any beach dig it all, you never know. If its a salt water beach VLF detectors might not be the best choice, I use a Sand Shark, which is a PI detector, at the Jersey Shore and it works great - very deep!

GunnarMN I am in the redneck capital of the world there most prize possession is the bottle opener on there key ring. They do not have the money for gold, beer yes none for gold, here I am happy with the silver I have found. Gold will come later on after school lets out. By then the water will be warmed up then time to pull out the Excalibure. Parents with kids and gold in the water. Tesoro Golden is for trashy spring break time...

Coils are what make trashy areas possible.

I will say, though, that the Golden allows you to run wide-open with zero discrimination. You just use your ears if you are cherry picking. When you are using a 4" coil, getting every bit of the depth that the coil can provide means minimal discrimination, so anything that can provide a TID (tones or display) has an advantage for the dedicated picker of cherries.
