Goldpack finds Gold coin....

Had been detecting in UK for almost two weeks with the E-trac,and my shoulder was sore after using it 8-10 hour every day,I decided to switch to the Xterra 705 with 5x10HF.So easy to swing and like how it actually bites on the signals.
It was the last day before homegoing to Sweden.I toke out the Terra on a field not much people had been on to.Worked my way to a corner of the field, very close to a mansion.

Was swinging and enjoying the weather when a signal caught my attention. Not iffy at all,but my first thought was, this is a shotgun cartridge.Number on the Terra said 26.I was running in sens 28,multitone,allmetal and ground balance was up to 76?

I started to dig and got up the clod. Was spliting it with my hands. Was in the other half, and so it went on until I got just a small peice of round dirt ball.
Hmm...I split it and some golden shining corner of the coin was visible.Oh,ahh..a modern coin...but hey it looks a little to dark yellow for that.

When I realised what it actually was,my heart started to go on with a heavy heartbeat.

I had found gooooold....yes,yes,yes:super:...didn

WOW! That is an amazing find. An absolutely beautiful coin. As I've said before, I'm convinced that the X-TERRA will outperform any of the multiple frequency detectors in broken ground. And that HF coil you were using makes for a perfect combination on gold coins. If you go back again, I'd bet the X-TERRA gets a shot at those first couple weeks! Nicely done, Mike. Nicely done. Thanks for the post. HH Randy

Thanks Digger!

Yes it sure is a beautiful coin indeed.Xterra is fantastic on as you say broken ground. I will certainly go back next year for the big rallies. Then I will do 50/50 hunt Xterra/E-trac if not maybe the more easy swinging CTX:)
More finds from UK will be posted shortly on this great forum.

Mike

Outstanding Mike! I bet that got your heart going!
The condition of that coin is phenominal! How are you going to top that?

Corgratulations! :clapping:

I still maintain that the 705 is the best kept secret in detecting.

Thanks guys!

Are you kidding Oldie,my heart almost stopped...yeah how Im gonna top that? A hoard of roman gold coins maybe.Next time, next time..

Value around 2-2500$ And its not at my home:)

Gonna be true to my Terra.

Cheers/Mike

WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable find. I know how i felt after finding gold class ring. Dont know if i could handle that find. I just bought HF coil from oldlonghair. Maybe i can find a gold coin now. Congrats on a great find.

Wow...what a great find! You have just found what every MD dreams of finding!

Awesome! Wish we had those over here in the U.S.

Great find! Beautiful coin. Congrats.
Only thing missing from the story is the depth that you found the coin.
I'd sure like to know.

Thanks once again!

Im still taking it in.Was desperat to find a hammered silver coin, but instead I passed the coil over the gold:wiggle:

I was waiting for the depth question.
It was recovered from just about four inch in that fluffy rolled ground.

Now I must purchase the 5x10 cus it was my brothers and he toke it back home.

Have a nice day,or night depend on where you live.:)

Mike

Good on you Mike, well done.

I've been waiting on a sovereign and half sovereign for more than 30 years, so I can feel you're enjoyment.

Congrats on that fantastic Gold Coin! I would bet you were jumping up and down on the inside! Beautiful recovery, Beale.

OMG that is a beautiful coin and a find of a life time. A BIG congrat's on that great find.

The gold coin is at the top of my list of coins to find and I'm off to the farm field tomorrow in hopes of finding one, but I'll be happy if I find a IH or two, lol
